MAEL 663 Course Syllabus

Using Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe’s Understanding by Design as a framework, students will examine various theories of curriculum development from a historical and philosophical perspective. In addition, they will be asked to examine their personal beliefs and those of their school systems regarding curricular issues. Students will become familiar with current theories on curriculum and apply that knowledge to their own experiences as school professionals. They will learn tools and strategies which will able them to evaluate current practices in curriculum and instruction.
